Well folks, I finally got the official email today: effective April 1, I will be promoted to a GS-11 from a GS-9. It has been a long time coming, let me tell you; when I was first hired, they told me I would get this promotion after three months. Well, that didn't work out, and neither did a few other things. So, after a year, I'm now a GS-11. But seeing as how it takes effect April 1, it's probably just a big April Fool's Day joke and they're really planning on demoting me to a GS-5. I'll keep you posted.

Finally Finally Finally!

Nice job on the GS-11! Ah yes, I remember years ago when I, your little brother (now an all mighty GS 12), was a GS-11. Those were the days....
I sure like how you're not getting a swell head about this.
Nothing to be proud of - you'll have this job the rest of your life just to play out your portion of "just waiting for the next raise."
Raises are funny creatures. I had this one promotion to Manager and had in mind what I would ask for in way of money. There was no negotiation. I was told what I was getting, and it amounted to adding the pay of an additional 15 minutes onto each day.
